Maxx from Contender Sailcloth
Often new sailcloth developments work out to
be more expensive, for very good reasons, but in 2004 we have been
offering one which is designed to save costs for both us and our customers!
Cuben Fiber sails development
Since we produced our first Cuben Fiber sails
back in 2000 the material has gained a relatively small but dedicated
following. As well as racing boats Cuben Fiber is seen on an increasing
number of cruising boats who appreciate its excellent shape holding,
light weight and high resistance to UV and flex fatigue.
Carbon sails update
Since carbon sails were made legal for IR 2000 and
IMS racing in January 2001 much work has been carried out in an attempt
to translate the theoretical benefits of this wonder material into
sails that perform well on the race track.
X-332
sails
Despite great recent success in the class, we're not resting on our
laurels when it comes to designing and developing even faster shapes for the X-332.
Cuben Fiber sails
Read about how we're developing the cloth used to win the America's
Cup in 1992 into fast sails which are "just so supple and easy
to handle!"
New AK Smoke Fabric
Over the past few years we have been using the Contender
AK range for the vast majority of our Kevlar sails. For 2001 Contender
have improved the performance of the product by introducing a UV absorber
into the fabric.
