Emma Richards and Goss Open 50 Pindar win Class 2 of Europe 1 New Man Singlehanded
Trans-Atlantic Race

Hot on the heels of fellow Englishwoman Ellen Macarthur's win in Class 1, Emma Richards brought home Pindar, the Open 50' built for Pete Goss, in first place in the highly competitive Monohull Class 2. She not only won against six other men, but she was also the youngest skipper in the class, a formidable feat which bodes well for the British in the French-dominated shorthanded sailing.

Pindar has a full set of Banks Checkmate fore and aft sails and Series 2000 spinnakers. All the sails performed to expectation and Emma did not have the trauma with sails with which some other competitors in her class had to cope.

Banks Sails have supplied the sails for this boat since its launch in 1996, during which time she has crossed the Atlantic seven times as well as going non-stop around the world with no major sail failures. We are delighted that on Pindar, as well as on countless other boats, we have lived up to our reputation for designing and making fast and durable sails.
