Fandango mixes it with the much higher rated Ker 11.3s at the Commodore's Cup

Fourth overall for Fandango at Rolex Commodore's Cup

When the overall results were compiled at the end of the final short inshore race of the Commodore's Cup, David Scanlan's Beneteau First 40.7 was confirmed as the fourth-placed individual boat behind a trio of IMX 40s. This meant that Fandango was top British boat at the event by a large margin.

The England Red Team comprising Fandango, Bear Of Britain (Farr 52) and Kerisma (Ker 11.3) took third place behind France Red and The Netherlands.

Fandango's excellent result was the product of a season of hard work by the crew which had involved many hours of training and tuning as well participating at regattas including the Warsash Spring Series, Easter Challenge and IRC Nationals.

The very high-quality fleet at the Commodore's Cup included 3 Farr 52s, 6 IMX 40s, 7 Ker 11.3s, 5 40.7s, 2 X-442s, a Mills 50, a Farr 40, a HOD 35, a BH 41, a Prima 38, a Grand Soleil 40, a First 47.7 and three Corby one-offs.

For reference the next-best First 40.7 in the regatta was the Spanish Team's Estrella Galicia which came 24th with 128.75 points compared with Fandango's 59.25.

Using her all Banks Sails inventory Fandango showed excellent speed throughout the regatta both upwind and down and was often able to sail around the course alongside much higher rated boats.

Fandango's Commodores Cup wardrobe consisted of the following sails:
• Checkmate Carbon Mainsail
• Checkmate Kevlar Smoke Light No.1
• Checkmate Carbon Medium No.1
• Checkmate Carbon Heavy No.1
• Checkmate Kevlar Smoke Blade No.3
• Series 2000 VMG Spinnaker
• Series 2000 Running Spinnaker
• Series 2000 AP Spinnaker
