Maxx from Contender Sailcloth
Often
new sailcloth developments work out to be more expensive, for very
good reasons, but in 2004 we have been offering one which is designed
to save costs for both us and our customers!
Contender Sailcloth's new Maxx laminates are available in both Pentex
and a Carbon/Kevlar mix, and their clever multiaxial construction
means that they can be used in crosscut sails, saving both time and
material wastage!
The radial structure for the sail is built into the cloth rather than
by using a complex panel layout or expensive membrane production.
In 2004 we have used Maxx fabrics on boats from a 30ft 1/2 Tonner
to a Ker 11.3, Swan 40 and X-412 and they have all been well received.
The crosscut construction forms an ultra smooth sail shape and the
soft finish of the new laminate makes these sails very easy to handle.
Both Pentex and Carbon/Kevlar Maxx fabrics are also available in Contender's
"Voyager" style with light protective taffetas on the outside on both
sides. This makes them an excellent option for performance cruising
or long distance racing sails. The Carbon/Kevlar version also has
extra anti UV coating to reduce the potential damage to the Kevlar.
