The Sonar fleet |

Banks at the Paralymics
The
Sonar is the keelboat used in the Paralympics, and strong fleets exist
across the world for both able-bodied and disabled sailors.
In 2000 Banks Sails sponsored the prizes at the first British Sonar
Championships and we were pleased to see our customers take all the
podium places.
British Paralympic sailor Andy Cassell and his crew did not quite
repeat the gold medal-winning performance of the previous games when
sailing was a demonstration sport. He did, however, win pre-Paralympic
regattas in Cowes and Sweden, and eventual gold medallist Noel Robins
used a Banks jib under certain conditions in Sydney.
Andy, who works for our sister company Ratsey and Lapthorn, works
closely with Hugh Myers on the
Sonar fleet in Cowes.
